SOLAR THERMAL

Solar thermal energy (STE) is a technology for harnessing solar energy for thermal energy (heat). In a grid connected Solar Thermal Plant energy is harnessed to produce Electricity for usage. STE is different from photovoltaic, which converts solar energy directly into electricity. While only 600 megawatts of solar thermal power is up and running worldwide in October 2009, another 400 megawatts is under construction and there are 14,000 megawatts of the more serious concentrating solar thermal (CST) projects being developed.

Solar thermal collectors are defined by the USA Energy Information Administration as low, medium, or high-temperature collectors.

  • Low temperature collectors are flat plates generally used to heat swimming pools. Other usage- heating, cooling, ventilation and process heat
  • Medium-temperature collectors are also usually flat plates but are used for creating hot water for residential and commercial use. e.g-Solar drying, Cooking, Distillation
  • High temperature collectors concentrate sunlight using mirrors or lenses and are generally used for electric power production.

Exergy pioneered in providing complete suite services in solar thermal domain. We provide complete commissioning of the Solar Thermal Plant at the minimum per unit cost globally as well as in India. With a bulk of experience in Solar Thermal sector, Exergy has been involved in more than 50 MW size projects across the globe.

Our broad array of services for Solar Thermal Plants includes the following—

  • Feasibility study
  • Site Selection activities
  • DPR Preparation
  • Turnkey Solution
